A/Prof Horsley has been an orthopaedic surgeon since 1995. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 1987, completing his orthopaedic training in Australia and overseas at Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic hospital in Exeter, England.


He is the Deputy Director of NeuroSciences, Bone & Joint for the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD). 


A/Prof Horsley is responsible for the orthopaedic teaching of the post graduate medical courses at the RPAH. The hospital is recognised as a world leader in healthcare excellence and innovation, and a leading medical teaching hospital.


RPAH has one of the largest trauma units in Australia.He also personally delivers formal lectures to postgraduate students and teaches undergraduate medical students. He trains accredited orthopaedic registrars, both through elective orthopaedic clinics and in operating theatres. As a supervisor of a PHD candidate he is involved in orthopaedic research through RPA hospital, for example, research into knee replacements outcomes. 

RPAH has one of the largest trauma units in Australia.


A/Prof Horsley specialises in surgery of the lower limb including hip, knee, ankle and foot. He has performed over 4500 hip and knee replacements, as well as revision joint replacement surgery. He also performs computer navigation and Mako Robot surgery for knee replacements. His vast experience and skill is recognised by referring doctors, patients and staff.


A/Prof Horsley has extensive experience in the surgery of the foot and ankle including surgery of the diabetic foot. He has lectured and given presentations nationally and internationally on topics relating to this area. Furthermore, he has co-authored multiple publications in the field of foot and ankle surgery.He is closely affiliated with the “High Risk Foot Clinic” at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. This is a world class multidisciplinary clinic that manages patients with peripheral neuropathies most commonly related to Diabetes Mellitus.

He works through Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital.


A/Prof Horsley is a member the Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Australian Medical Association and the Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.


He enjoys skiing, golf, and tennis and likes to think he is a proficient guitarist, being a member of the cover band “Dow Jones and the All Ordinaries” for over 25 years.
