Diabetic Foot

Patients with diabetes can have complex problems with their feet relating to a peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage causing numbness), circulation problems, and Charcot arthropathy ( a condition where bones can break, often without a recognised injury).

Treatment of the diabetic foot requires a multidisciplinary approach with specialised podiatrists, endocrinologists, vascular surgeons and orthopaedic surgeons.

A/Prof Horsley is closely affiliated with the High Risk Diabetic Foot Clinic at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Through the clinic A/Prof Horsley provides surgical management of chronic foot ulcers and Charcot arthropathy.
